DISTANCE DISCUSSIONS

In the age of COVID-19, I started a series of interviews to share insight into the health and economic impacts of coronarvirus, as well as the experiences of people working in different careers affected by the pandemic.

Episode 1: Rabbi Alex Kress

Rabbi Alex Kress is a Reform rabbi currently working at UCLA Hillel. We discuss childhood, parenthood, and what we can learn from Judaism in a pandemic.

Episode 2: Dr. Marc Kress

Dr. Marc Kress is a Primary Care Physician outside Philadelphia. We discuss what’s going on with testing and supplies, the difficulties of being both a doctor and small business owner right now, and what myths are out there about the virus.

Episode 3: Lee Slobotkin

Lee Slobotkin is an actor and singer. We discuss his two years performing in the national tour of Wicked, what it's like to make a Broadway debut, and the challenges of working in the entertainment industry.

Episode 4: Dana Olinsky

Dana Olinsky is a costume designer in Los Angeles. We discuss what it's like to work on a major TV show, how being a camp counselor helped her in her career, and how the pandemic is impacting the entertainment industry.

Episode 5: Tyler Alley

Tyler is a Wharton grad who owns his own real estate development company in Dallas. We discuss how he is approaching being a landlord during the pandemic, why the Federal Reserve is bailing out other countries right now, the relationship between the stock market and unemployment, and more about the state of the economy.

Episode 6: Aaron Selkow

The week the Union for Reform Judaism announced the difficult decision to cancel its 15 overnight camps for summer 2020, I spoke with Aaron Selkow, Deputy Director of URJ Camps, NFTY & Immersives about how the URJ came to this decision, what leadership principles guided him during this process, and what he would say to camp families right now.
